Franklin Field is ready to welcome the Marshalltown community! Join us Friday, Aug. 21, as we celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated Franklin Field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., followed by Marshalltown High School football scrimmages against Bondurant-Farrar. The freshman scrimmage begins at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity scrimmage following at 7 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
Before you head to Franklin Field, take a few minutes to review the information below for details on entrances, parking, seating, restrooms and other event logistics to help you plan your visit.
Where can I park my car?
Two parking lots will be available for ribbon-cutting and scrimmage game attendees near the N. 14th Street entrance. Additional parking will be available along N. 13th Street.
Please note that school buses transporting Marshalltown and Bondurant-Farrar students will be parked on W. Main Street between N. 13th Street and N. 14th Street. Additional bus parking will be on N. 13th Street near the glow path.
Where should I enter Franklin Field?
Franklin Field has two entrances available to attendees: the N. 14th Street entrance and the southwest ticket booth entrance, located at the intersection of N. 13th Street and W. Main Street.
Where will the ribbon cutting take place?
The ribbon cutting will take place near the Franklin Field mural.
Will there be seating available for the ribbon cutting?
A limited number of seats will be available for attendees who need or prefer to sit.
What seating options are available for the scrimmage games?
Two bleacher seating options will be available for attendees: the main bleachers at Franklin Field, with temporary bleachers located nearby to accommodate overflow seating.
Will there be concessions available?
Yes! Concessions will be available during the event.
Where are restroom facilities?
Restroom facilities are located within the concession building.
Can my kids play on the playground?
Yes! The playground will be available for younger children. We ask that parents and guardians please supervise children while they are using the playground.
Who should I contact if I have a question during the event?
For questions or assistance during the event, please find an MCSD administrator on duty.
What happens if it rains?
The event will be held weather permitting. If weather impacts the ribbon cutting, updates will be shared on the MCSD website and social media channels. For scrimmage game updates, please follow MHS Bobcat Sports.
