The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Boliver as the permanent Lead Principal at Marshalltown High School, effective March 3, 2025. The MCSD School Board has approved the recommendation to remove the interim tag from his title, confirming him in this leadership role.
Boliver, a 1991 graduate of Marshalltown High School, brings extensive experience and deep community ties to the position. His educational career spans over 25 years, beginning as a paraprofessional in Special Education. He has served in various roles with MCSD including special education teacher, Dean of Students, and Associate Principal. After a period as Principal at Roland-Story High School, where he led initiatives in Standards Based Grading, Boliver returned to Marshalltown High School as an Associate Principal for the 2023-2024 school year before stepping into the Interim Lead Principal role for 2024-2025.
"I am excited to be leading at the school where I graduated from in 1991. I look forward to focusing on exceptional education for every student in the years to come, especially around Work-Based Learning and students being Bobcat College and Career Ready," Boliver said.
His top goal for the position is to build a positive culture for all at Marshalltown High School and maintain a welcoming environment for all families. Beyond his professional life, Boliver enjoys outdoor activities, particularly water sports. He is married with four children, one of whom aspires to become a teacher in Marshalltown.
"I am absolutely humbled for the opportunity to be the next lead principal at Marshalltown High School. Since I started in administration, it has been a goal of mine to be the principal at the school I graduated from. I am thankful to the School Board, interview committee, students, staff, and community for the overwhelming support. Thank you to my parents Gail and Janeen Boliver for the constant faith and guidance. Thank you to Nicki Boliver who has been so supportive in my personal and professional journey," Boliver shared.
