BOONE — The IGHSAU/IHSAA State Co-Ed Golf Tournament has been a prolific event for Marshalltown golfers in recent history.

Those strong results continued on Tuesday at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

Marshalltown seniors Natalie Henson, Gaby Estabrook, Ty Faltys and Eli Polley played one last round as Bobcats, and one pair even brought home medals.

Henson and Faltys shot a combined round of 2-over-par 74 to finish in third place in the Class 2A tournament, keeping the line moving for Marshalltown golf at the season-ending co-ed state meet.

Henson was a four-time 4A state qualifier and three-time medalist, finishing 22nd, ninth, fourth and third, and she was a four-time medalist in state co-ed play. Teaming with Ryan Schmit, Henson captured ninth, first and seventh in respective seasons before joining Faltys for Tuesday’s 18 holes in Boone.

Faltys, who placed 42nd in his state meet debut in the fall season, was playing in his first co-ed state meet.

“Fun day with these four seniors playing one last time as Bobcat golfers!” MHS head coach Lucas Johnson posted on Instagram.

Estabrook and Polley paired up for the co-ed event for the third year in a row and achieved their best finish together, tying for 23rd place with a combined 86. They placed 24th as sophomores and 43rd last spring.

The Cedar Falls team of Molly Ratchford and Anthony Galvin shot a 4-under 68 for meet medalist honors, while Jane Petersen and Preston Haefner of Cedar Rapids Washington shot 71 for second.
